  • Good music and trees!

Tonight I went to see James Morrison at Sherwood Pines, the tickets were bought for me as a mothers day present by my kids.
Thankfully the rain stayed away and the forest was a fantastic setting for a concert. James Morrison sounded fantastic!!

The I came in and decided to have a game of bingo, and won £750

    A good day :)

  • it's raining again!

Well, the town is bracing itself as the heavens open ago Route to work

    My normal route to work

    Other route

Lee recovered this car 24 hours later, it's a right off!

I really feel for the families and pray this rain won't add.

  • Wii, sunshine and headache

I've had a bloody headache since Monday evening! Last night it was so bad I had to take extra strong painkillers and go to bed! Lee thinks it's stress due to Monday and also my sister drinking again >:XX

Matthew's friend is selling his Nintendo Wii and Lee said we didn't want it as he thought they were rubbish! One hour later and Abi was complaining that Lee wouldn't let her play :**: reckon we'll be buying it!

The sun is shining and apart from a little rain earlier it's a lovely day! The local res is being shored up and it looks like the danger has passed for now. Lee spent all last night recovering water logged cars and said the town looked like a film set. The forecast shows bad weather this weekend so I pray it won't be bad enough to impact on the families who will no doubt be trying to get back and sort out property!

Right I'm off to sit in the garden and enjoy some sun!

  • Newsworthy!

What sort of a world do we live in when news on GMTV of a dam about to burst and people being evacuated was interupted with an urgent bulletin that Paris Hilton was being released!

Abi has been sent home, to be honest her school was one of two schools open but there were not enough teachers to keep the school open.

I'm gonna lay on the sofa and watch the news!

  • A day in hospital, devastation and finding a bed!

Well I arrived at the hospital at 7am as asked, I was second on the list and was "dressed" for theatre by 8.30am. At 9am the consultant came to ensure all the paperwork was complete (the op is a trial) and advised me it would be 2pm when I would be in theatre. So I picked up my book and read, and waited and waited. News of the devastation hitting Sheffield came through, staff worrying about getting home. At 3.30 the consultant arrived to advise me that the specialist equipment needed for my operation was sat on the M1, he wouldn't cancel as yet but it may not arrive, I called Lee and he set off to pick me up. At 5pm my op was cancelled and at 6pm I joined other patients and staff to watch the news.
At 8pm I got a text from Lee to say all 7 different routes he could take to get to me were under water and he was going to have to turn back.
My cousin lives 1/2 mile from the hospital and she kindly picked me up and offered me a bed for the night, not that we got much sleep, watching Sky News as they showed our town and city under water.
Sadly two people have died and hundreds more have lost homes a cars. Ulley res which is close to our home (though luckily too far to hit us) is on the verge of bursting and Rotherham is preparing.
Lee, who had done a night shift, was sat outside my cousins waiting for us to get up and we have made the slow process home.
Yes my op has (yet again) been cancelled but in the grand scheme of things it's nothing. My home and my family are safe, and that's what matters!

  • Pschometry, journey and preparation

On Friday I attended my awareness class at the spiritualist church. We did psychometry and I thought I would be an observer and hoped that the person picking up my chain would be able to gain an insight into my life and impress me.
I picked up a man's ring, as I touched it I heard the words "blue car" I then thought of a dog, I couldn't pick out the breed, only that it was small. As we were sat, the lights dimmed, holding the objects, I started to hear children. At first they were young, toddlers, soon I heard teenagers. I decided the church probably backed onto a playground and tried to glean more from the ring.
We took it in turn to stand up and I gave my info, we weren't allowed to show the item, as it was felt the person whose object it was would react and we wanted to see if we could identify the person.
I mentioned the blue car and the dog, and said that was all I had, a man (new to church) said it was his and his mother gave him it as a gift, and at that time he had a blue car, she also had a small dog. I mentioned the children and said I think it was coming from outside, no one else had heard it and it was confirmed we weren't near a playground. The man said his mother was a foster mother and was always surrounded by children of all ages. As he spoke I saw flowers and the bunch kept getting added to, until I had arms full of different types. I told him and he said "my mum loved flowers" He came up to me at the end and said, after his mum's funeral she had requested any flowers be taken to local hospitals so they could be enjoyed. He said, they left the cemetary with arms full of different bunches of flowers. I was amazed and very, very proud.
By far the strangest thing was last week while in church I had a pain in my face and one side was numb, I thought it was a migraine coming but it passed. When I was stood giving my reading it came back, I told everyone and the man stood up and showed a scar on his face and neck, he had been glassed years ago and though not painful, his face was in deed numb on the same side!!!
Yesterday we took Ami and the tots home to London, the house is empty but the look on Oskar's face when he saw his daddy was great, they're back in 2 weeks so not long to go.
The journey was good, we left home at 1pm, took them home had coffee and a chat and were home at 9pm.
Today I am preparing for hospital and to take Abi to nannies as Lee will be on nights. I have to be at theatre for 7am, and am hoping I am first on the list so I don't have to wait.

Please send positive thoughts out for me, I'm off to church tonight to ask the spirit guides to steady the surgeon's hand and send out healing prayers.

Hope you are all well, I will be no doubt back on blog tonight, if you're around I'll see you then if not see you when I get home safe and sound.

  • Rain, rain go away!

Yesterday I had one of the worst days of my life, it's not something I feel at this time can be blogged (even as friends only) suffice to say my already shitty life suddenly became very, very shitty. Someone has, in an attempt to upset someone I love done something that has sent repercussions unimaginable through my family.

I am struggling to keep myself from going out and actually commit a murder, for the first time in my life I can say I truly hate someone. Instead I am attempting to help pick up the peaces, give support where needed and get help where someone else has only wanted to do harm.

I've changed my music to something more fitting :)

  • Cheese & Cake!

For people with speakers please excuse the cheese, but it's to go with the birthday cake for a very special birthday!

    wedding14

Some 75 years ago today, Dorothy Mavis Hall was born in Sheffield. She grew up and went to marry Jack, who lived in neighbouring Rotherham, and despite living here for over 50 years she is still seen as an "incomer" and "a de da"

Dorothy and Jack went on to have 7 children, 4 boys, 3 girls. Sadly they lost one son in a motorbike accident when he was 17, which they never got over.

Dorothy, known as Dot to anyone outside Sheffield, despite battling against kidney desease, arthritis and heart problems. Continues to offer loving support to all her children, son/daughter in laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her walls covered in pictures referred to as "rogues gallery" She visits her daughter's monthly to "view" her grandson and his daughter on the web cam in Japan.

My son calls her Trixie, she makes the best yorkshire puddings and gravy in the world and is a avid Gene Pitney fan. I was pleased I bought tickets for his concert last mother's day, he died two days after the concert (wasn't me!) Every Saturday, my son (19) his cousin (18) and friends join mum to watch Dr Who and drink all the pop. She calls it "the youth club"

Mum doesn't want any "fuss" for her birthday, she wants to wait till September, and have a joint party with my dad who will be 80 and my baby brother who will be 40! We know better than to go against her wishes.

Happy Birthday mum, you're the best!

  • Doctors, Decisions, Drenching & devils

The hospital visit went well. Dad's consultant is a likeable bloke who was genuine in his intent to cure dad.
The tumour is in the bottom half of dad's liver, the liver is devided into quadrants and dad's is partial quadrant 2, whole quadrant 3, partial quadrant 4. The danger of operating pre chemo is that the tumor is very close to the blood supply for the healthy part of of the liver and if damaged during the op would mean dad wouldn't survive. We discussed chemo and dad has said he will have it. Apparently the chemo doctor will "decide" if dad is fit enough. He is fitter than most people 20 years his junior so if she says no she better watch out! I left the appointment feeling positive and though I know we have a long rocky road am confident my dad, and his attitude will carry us all through!

Bloody hell, for the first time in months I had my daughter in bed with me because she was scared. The storms were horrendous and we have floodig all around us, thank god we live on a hill!!! The last time Abi was so scared was when she woke us at 4am to says she had "poltergist activity" in her room (was actually a breeze from her open window blowing the blind)

My lovely grandson has been replaced during the wee hours by a tantruming, squealing little devil. He has a look in his eye that tells me he is looking for trouble and we are battening down the hatches!!!

Hope you are all well :)

  • Bernard Manning

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" - Voltaire

    True words!

A bit like marmite, Bernard was either loved or hated. I abhor racism, but believe the "pc" brigade have a habit of going too far. I have a good sense of humour and find humour in a lot of things. Remember the "going out for an english" sketch, did the PC brigade ban that for racism? I doubt it!

Rest in peace Bernard and well done for not "towing the line"

  • How?

    Stop Abuse

I came across the picture above on Here

I have a relative who works for NSPCC and know how commited she is to the safety of children, yet abuse goes on, unchecked in houses all over the country.

Well done for the family of Aysha for breaking the silence.

I'll be hugging my grandbabies a little tighter tomorrow

  • My house is a tip and very noisy....

    ......but I love it!!!

The tots arrived last night and I babysat. Considering I hadn't seen them for a while they were soon settled in and Oskar was soon into everything. His favourite sentence is "don't do that" so you can tell how naughty her is :))

Picked my dad and two brothers up from one pub and drove them to another today, I stayed for a drink and it's great to see dad looking himself despite the C growing and eating away inside.

  • I'm a lovely lilac colour

Today I went to Spiritualist Church for the first of my awareness classes, and I really enjoyed it.

We attempted to see each others auras and I felt I could actually see colour surrounding my partner in the exercise, although it quickly went (think I tried too hard) We then felt people auras.

Do you ever get the shivers down your back alerting you to someone behind you? Well that's what it felt like when my partner felt my aura. I could actually feel his energy with my fingertips, a bit like when you try to put two magnets together.

Apparently my aura was lilac ?!?!?!

Next week we are going to attempt psychometry, which is to hold objects and gain information from the energy it holds. I can't wait!

Bloody chaos here today, flooded roads, buses not running and a 14 yr old washed down stream (luckily saved) Of course ITN only reported on Warwickshire and Catterick. Rotherham & Sheffield aren't posh enough!

Ami and the tots arrive tomorrow, so get ready for lots of new pictures

    Have a good weekend

  • Pishing it down with rain

We have, what Abi calls "Scotland rain" so named after we spent a week on the Western Highlands and it rained all week. We still had a good time, but Abi insists on calling any bad rainy days "Scotland Rain"

This morning Lee got in bed at 6.30am and I snuggled up to him, must have been comfy because I didn't wake up till 8.30am. I say wake up, I mean actually open my eyes. Due to my meds I don't wake up properly until I've been out of bed at least and hour. Anyhoo, I opened one eye, looked at the clock, heard the rain and stayed in bed. Thus keeping Abi off school  I called school and told a fib, and feel very guilty. I did make her do all her homework and some revision on Maths & science, so I don't feel "quite" as bad.

Lee had a course this afternoon, so Abi and I watched the second "bring it on" film. Anyone who hasn't seen the first one, it's about cheerleaders. The second one has "the twins" from Big Brothers "introduce yourself" song!

Dad hasn't heard a word from the hospital, 10 days tomorrow since they told him a chemo doctor would be in touch. While ever they dawdle the tumor is growing >:XX If no letter or call is forthcoming tomorrow I'm going to call!

Today's tune is "only women bleed" Alice Cooper. I actually prefer the Baz Warne version but can't find it.

This song is dedicated to a friend, she knows who she is, and she knows why

  • Thunder & Lightning

Isn't it strange how a good old thunderstorm clears the air in more ways than one!?

In a much better mood today, Lee is on his last night shift so will then be off until Saturday, except they have booked him on a course tomorrow afternoon

Not a great deal happening in the Rotherham household, Ami and the tots arrive on Saturday to stay for a week so all I'm doing is toddler proofing the house. Mum and dad are so excited and can't wait to see them. My parents have 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and are never happier than when they have a house full of kids. Ami's visit is just what they need while waiting to hear about dad's treatment.

I continue to battle the side effects of my medication, along with the pain I still feel, but hey ho! Things could be worse.

You may notice I have changed the music, I'll try to do it every couple of days.

Playing now: Hanging by a moment - Lifehouse

  • Moody Tuesday

I don't know if it was the rain this morning but my mood has dropped today. I'm not down or sad, just very angry! For no reason.

I got up with Abi and saw her off to school and promptly fell asleep on the sofa until Lee woke me up at 1.00pm, so that was most of the day gone. Since then I have been a snappy cow and I think Lee was actually glad to get out of the door!

    Hope your day is better!

  • Let there be music!

    Hurrah

I have music on my blog....thanks ebamel slide :)

Not sure on the choice but let me know what you think?

    Music or no music

    Youe decide!

  • A good start to the week!

What a great day it's been today!

Got up a little late  so instead of making Abi "leg it" up the hill to school I took her in the car. It's not a thing I condone as the cars parked along our road for the local junior and infant school really piss me off! But Abi's school is about 1/2 mile up hill and I went straight to the supermarket from there.

After I had shopped I went to visit mum & dad, both well, good to hear my dad moaning about something! If he's moaning, all is well! Watched a little TV with them (Britains got Talent, from last night) and went home to clean up and cook Lee Brekkie (back on nights :()

The afternoon was spent in the garden, either reading or surfing the net, enjoying the sun and getting a tad brown :)

Abi has been out since she came in at 3.30 and quickly cast aside her uniform, but I'm going to call her in now. She hasn't eaten anything except homemade crumble and custard since she came in (I'm such a bad mum!)

Tonight will be spent sorting out travel cots and car seats for when Ami & the tots arrive at the weekend.

    Hope your week started well!

  • A huge dilemma

I'm sat out on the garden with the laptop, a cold glass of water with ice and a snoring dog at my feet. Two loads of washing are out on the line and I cooked Lee brekkie when I returned from the supermarket at 11am.

Lee (who is on nights) has just started washing the car, my car, the one I have been driving all week.

    Do I help????

  • Do you love it!?

I swear if I was in the Big Brother house I would strangle the twins

  • Poor poor Joseph what ya gonna do?

    lee01

    Bloody win it!

    My vote is for Lee!

Hope you have had a great day and all managed to enjoy some of the sun.

My day began when I was awoken by the postman ant 9.30am, he was delivering some Key Stage 3 revision guides I had ordered for Abi from E Bay. It's a good job he knocked as I was due to go to visit my friend and told her I would be there by 10.30. Problem is, Lee is on nights and the bed is too comfy in a morning when he is back in it :)

Abi and I dashed around and got out of the house by 10 past. I got in the car, took the roof down and went straight back in to change my top. Despite being a little misty the day was promising to be very nice. A quick drive the journey to see my friend L with the top down soon woke me up. L worked with me until recently and actually interviewed me to join the company some 5 years ago. She got a new job and during her notice found out she was pregnant with her second child. We worked together during her first pregnancy and it feels very strange not to be as involved in this one. But we try to catch up by text and meet at least once a week. Her little boy H is 2 1/2years old and loves playing with Abi, who he refers to as Gaby. He's a great little boy, and so old fashioned. We were in a local bookstore recently and he shouted "Crikey mum, this is a very big book" :))

We left L's house at about 12 and on the way home with the sun shining down on us, Abi and I decided we would have a BBQ for lunch. So we stopped off at the supermarket and bought ribs, burgers, sausages, chicken etc... and got home in time to wake Lee up at 1pm.

I sat in the garden reading my book "Handstands in the dark" By Jane Godley, I recommend it, I bought it yeaterday and haven't been able to put it down. Jane has a blog, so check out her writing!

Lee and Matt burnt BBQ'd the food and just as we were finishing eating my dad called in, not impressed that we had "sneaked a BBQ without telling him" joking that it was almost mid June and the family had only had 1 BBQ so far (we were in Chelmsford so missed it)

He came to ask me to taxi him to the pub later, as his usual crowd weren't going out. This got changed at 6pm when he decided to go to the "bottom club" as his mates had decided to go out. They are all younger than him and treat him like a second dad. They pay for the taxi and buy his beer. Since his illness they even make sure he isn't too drunk.

Lee has gone off to work, Matt is in his room, Abi is out playing and me? I'm watching Joseph and blogging, of course!

  • Numpty awards entry 2

When I was 18 I started work as an "office Junior" at the National Water Council in Sheffield. My brother's "then" girlfriend got me the job and I was very excited, after earning no money on YTS jobs I had some money at last.

On my 3rd day there I was asked to fax a document to another office, not wanting to appear thick I pretended I knew what I was doing and went over to the fax machine, as I was asked to file a copy I went in search of a photocopier. A colleague asked why I needed one and I explained that I needed a copy of the document before I faxed the document off. In my innocence I actually thought the fax machine swallowed up the document and sent it off somewhere

  • Numptiness Awards....one

It was the early 90's and I was working at a hotel in our town.We regularly hosted visits from football teams who were playing local teams.
One night we had Southampton visiting and while serving in the busy bar I took a call from a member of staff who was working in a function room downstairs. On replacing the handset I went on to serve the group of gentlemen in front of me.n

A few seconds later the bar supervisor walked onto the bar and this is where it began:

"who was on the phone" Says she

"Julian from upstairs" Says I "Apparently Peter Shilton is in the hotel and they want to know when he comes down to dinner"

I handed the pint of stella over to the customer in front of me to see he was smiling and everyone in front of him was pissing themselves laughing.

"oh" says I "Are you him?"

    "yes" says he

"oh" says I "famous are you"

    "possibly" says he

    "what for football" says I

"Just a bit" quirps his mate

and off they toddled in to dinner, the laughter that broke out when he reached the table told me news had spread.

When the bar had emptied I called my brother

"Do you know Peter Shilton?" says I

    "Yes" says my brother "why?"

"Is he very famous?" asks I

"F*cking hell he says, only one of the most famous footballers in England"

I went on to tell him my story

The man himself found it very funny and bought me a drink when he returned to the bar, he also gave me an autograph for my brother

  • Where's the sun??

Well we've had a lovely few days and Lee did his last run of night shifts last night, he's off until 6pm on Friday. Ive just woken him up ;) and we're off shopping.

Been to see dad this morning, he's "champion" to quote his words.

The fottie is only on Sky tonight (robbing bastards) So we've invited Lee's parents over for a BBQ and to watch the match.

Good job Lee has a coat!

  • Dyeing to see you...........................

    .............
Lonemum's post on Tinks having a hair dyeing evening took me back to when Ami (actually AMY but we lost the Y and gained an I when she was a teen) :)) went through her "freak" phrase. I call it freak as that's what her and her friends were labelled at school. They had an individual style of dress, not quite goth, and I find it amusing to see kids dressed the same almost 10 years later.

Ami's hair went through a range of coulours, from red to balck, purple to blue. She would go to bed at 10pm with red hair, and get up for school the next day with vivid red hair. The only clue were the splashes on the bath and the drops on the towels 88|

My dad always said should Ami leave the house without seeing us in the morning and fail to return in the evening we would struggle to give a true description of her. "Erm, her hair could be blue, green, pink, purple or any of the above combined" :>>

I remember parents evening when she was in 5th year (year 11 in new money) and her drama teacher (who incidentally taught me) asked if we could "sort out" her hair. She felt the dark purple was not becomming of Ami's role of magistrate in her end of year play :))

Wonder if her two kids will be the same?

  • Coppers getting away with murder

Well not really, but getting away with traffic offences

Nine out of 10 of the region's coppers caught on camera speeding or driving through a red light have their offences scrapped, we can reveal.

The figures from the North's police forces show of the 377 recorded incidents in 2006, only 36 resulted in the police officer getting a ticket.

This compares to 84 per cent of the general public prosecuted for speeding or jumping red lights.

The regional statistics do not reveal how many of the speeding cops were attending emergencies. However, nationally only one in four were.

  • Accident Victims used as guinea pigs

Suppose you happen to be in a serious car wreck. Or maybe you get shot or suffer cardiac arrest. If you live in King County, it might also mean that in that life-or-death moment, you will become part of an experiment — without your consent.

Researchers at the University of Washington have been studying various treatments for patients in such extreme situations. And because patients can be unconscious or too injured to consent, federal guidelines now allow the doctors to bypass longstanding ethics rules that require so-called "informed consent."
